There are four major types of hair conditioners, which include;

  • Deep Conditioner: Just like the name suggests, a deep conditioner provides deeper conditioning, especially for damaged and dry hairs. The ingredients used in making this kind of conditioner are not too harsh like the others, and the application method is quite different from others. It is recommended for damaged hair and not for normal hair due to its nature.
  • Leave-in Conditioner: Leave-in conditioners are thinner in texture compared to other conditioners. They can be sprayed or applied on the hair to moisten it and are sometimes used to prevent the hair from drying out by moisturizing it and are fit for all kinds of hair. However, they are best for those with kinky or naturally curly hair and can perform the job of hair oils as well.
  • Rinse-Out Conditioners: These are the most common types of conditioners. They are applied to the hair and rinsed with water after 3 to 4 minutes. They are not meant to stay on the hair for long after application and are best applied to damp hair after washing with shampoo. The best kind of rinse-out conditioner is made with acids.
  • Hair Masks: Hair masks come with concentrated active ingredients to make the hair glow brightly after application. Due to their acidic concentration, and the special effects they give to the hair, they should be applied twice a week. They are to be applied and rinsed with water after 20-30 minutes. They can guarantee instant results making the hair shiny but are more expensive than regular conditioners. They can be applied to different hair types.

How to Use Conditioners

Applying conditioners to the hair is a no-brainer. Scup some on your palms, and apply to the hair from the roots. Rinse with water after a few minutes. Also, there are directions on how to use each conditioner on their containers.

Benefits of Hair Conditioners

  • They Make the Hair Softer: Conditioners soften the texture of the hair and make it easier for combing. Shampooing is great, but not enough to soften the hair as you'll still find them tough.
  • Detangles the Hair and Make it Smoother: Beyond softening, conditioners can make the hair smoother and untangled. They can safely be used as detanglers as they contain similar ingredients to the oils used in detanglers.\
  • Protects the Hair: The conditioners add an extra layer of protection to the hair that keeps it free from an attack like the sun rays. They come with sunscreens ultimately protected, and they stay healthier and stronger.
  • Makes the Hair Shiny: If it's the shine you want, conditioners can make the hair appear radiant with some special ingredients in their make-up. Hair masks are designed to make the hair shiny down to its root.
